Task 2.2 ~ Print artefacts research - Crysis 3 review

At first glances the most prominent thing in this game review are the large screenshots of in game footage. This appeals to the reader of the magazine as it gives them a glimpse of what is to come from the game and the sort of things they would be experiencing. The title of the game - "Crysis 3" - is the most stand out text in the entire review. Prior to the game title there is a tagline from the magazine which gives a brief, opinionated yet light hearted synopsis of the game. This makes the mood of the article more positive and the audience would read the review with some form of opinion already in their mind, this may give a biased view towards the game and would probably be used to get the reader onside with the game.

The text size of the actual review is very small but not the smallest text in the review. This shows that it is highly important as there is a lo of text to be used to get a good enough review to please the readers. The colour scheme used is mainly green. The reason for this is because green is a commonly used colour within the game and the cover for the game. This makes the review a whole lot more approriate with the game that is being reviewed.

In and around the main text there are larger font sized pieces of text but of smaller length. This focus on important points that the magazine feels the reader needs to understand or realise more so that they can fully grasp the positives and negatives of the game. An example of this being "The most engaging stories of Crysis 3 emerge from its ability to facilitate a degree of free-form player expression"

On the third and fourth pages of the review there are features that present the features of the game. This will be invaluable for the audience to really understand what the benefits of the game they can get from it. FAQ's are also incorporated into the review along with a verdict out of 10 at the end. This gives theaudience just that little but more knowledge and "head's up" on the game so that they can make a more accurate decision on whether to buy the game or not. The reason this is such a massive, 4 page review is because Crysis 3 was a highly anticipated marquee game that numerous gamers would have been talking about. Hence the reason this was such a long review was because more people would have been looking towards this game.
